Last week, police detained 19 Muslims in a series of raids and also banned four Muslim scholars from entering the country to attend a major Islamic conference.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the raids were intended to deny entry to certain people who did not share France's values.
Sarkozy several times has highlighted his policies against immigrants Muslims in his recent presidential campaign in France.
Last month, addressing his supporters in the city of Bordeaux vowed that he would reduce the number of immigrants, end any indulgences for Halal meat in schools for Muslims or separate swimming hours for Muslim women in public pools.
Some observers view the measures as part of Sarkzoy's efforts to appease Jewish voters in the run-up to the presidential election.
There are an estimated 5 million Muslims in France, the largest such population in Western Europe.
